Michael A. Okaty is a business lawyer and managing partner of Foley & Lardner LLP’s Orlando office. His practice focuses on a wide variety of corporate transactions, governance, and counseling. He also serves as an advisor and trustee to high net worth individuals and families. Mike is co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.
Mike has been recognized by a variety of publications including The Best Lawyers in America© since 2010 in the field of corporate law, Florida Super Lawyers – Rising Stars® for five years, Orlando Business Journal’s “40 under 40” for two years, and recognized as a “Florida Trend Legal Up & Comer” by Florida Trend magazine in July 2004.
In addition to his legal career, Mike has been active in various community organizations in the Central Florida area, including the University of Central Florida Alumni Association, Golden Knights Club and Foundation, WMFE, the Maitland Art & History Association, the Orlando Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), the Brevard Zoo, and the OneBlood Foundation. He is on the board of directors for the New York University Alumni Association and is a graduate of Leadership Orlando, Class 65. He serves as chair of a national committee of the American Bar Association.
Mike is admitted to practice law in Florida, New York, California, and before the U.S. Tax Court.
He is a University of Central Florida alumnus, earning bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance and graduating magna cum laude from the university. He also attended the New York University School of Law where he received both his Juris Doctor and Master of Laws degrees.
